I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by the author herself, and remember I did in fact cry in a grocery store (not H Mart). This is no celebrity memoir, but rather a simple and beautiful personal story about music, grief, mother-daughter relationships, and the Asian American experience. I found Zauner's story deeply interesting and also incredibly touching.
